Bark In The Park

Annual Bark in the Park: September 24, 2016, 8 am to 3 pm.
Bark in the Park is a celebration of all things canine.  Each September, The Animal Care Society welcomes the general public to one of Metro Louisville’s most popular green spaces – Seneca Park. Participate in the 5K, hang out with your dog(s) by the kiddie pools, munch on pizza and hot dogs, participate in fun contests, learn about rescue organizations and animal-friendly businesses nearby, and meet tons of amazing animal lovers right here in Louisville!

5K Woof Walk/Run

The day begins with registration for our traditional staple: The Woof Walk/Run. It is literally a stroll in the park! The Animal Care Society patrons preregister for $25 ($30 on that day) and collect additional pledge donations from pet loving friends and family! Each walker/runner receives a complimentary Wag Bag full of coupons, goodies, and an Official 2016 Bark in the Park T-Shirt.  Fabulous prizes are available for the walkers/runners who raise the most money!! Participants can walk or run through the beautiful & scenic Seneca Park and are even invited to bring their furry four-legged running or walking partners (as long as they stay on a leash). This event has a beautiful view, draws in a large crowd, and, most importantly, 100% or proceeds benefit the cats & dogs at Louisville's first no-kill animal shelter!!

Contests, Contests, Contests!

Most animal owners think the WORLD of their pets and the turnout at our Bark in the Park contest is a quite a testimony to that notion! This year we’ll put “Puppy Love” to the ultimate test as our judges try to determine which pooch has the best smooch in our Kissing Contest.  Dogs are then transformed into flights of fantasy, science fiction or even cartoon characters as the Halloween Costume Contest. The Pet/Owner Look Alike Contest will stretch our judges’ imaginations as they try to figure out common features between people and their pets (without insulting dog or human!).

Dog of the Year

This is a day-long contest where pet lovers have submitted their precious pups pictures in advance and the general public has the final vote with the almighty dollar! Participants are encouraged to shamelessly promote their pooch or “put your money where your mutt is” and pre-collect donations for the contest. Your dog could be DOG of the Year and win a huge dog basket with gift card!

Silent Auction and Raffles

We have to brag. Our gift baskets are the best in town. Due to the generosity of area businesses and the creativity of our staff and volunteers the Bark in the Park silent auction offers a diverse  and popular item selection.  Local restaurants and retailers offer gift cards. Louisville landmarks such as Churchill Downs, Actors Theater and Belle of Louisville typically donate admissions and tickets. These gifts and services are artfully combined into packages that delight auction bidders seeking bargains and bring much needed revenue to our little shelter.

Vendors & Sponsors

From Veterinary offices to rescue organizations to you-name-it, we have tons of vendors at Bark in the Park. As a Sponsor, you receive a FREE Vendor space. Learn more about the animal-friendly businesses in Louisville and make new friends with people and dogs from rescues nearby. If you would like to be a vendor or sponsor at Bark in the Park this year, please contact us at events@animalcaresociety.org  or fill out a Sponsor Form HERE or Vendor Form HERE. Thanks!
